The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities is reforming social housing rent policy, including proposals to restore Local Housing Allowance rates, implement Social Rent convergence, and reform subsidy rules for council housing. Multiple bills are progressing including the Co-operative Housing Tenure Bill and Carers Bedroom Entitlement Bill. The policy aims to improve affordability and value for money in the social housing sector.
