Asylum Accommodation Policy

Asylum Accommodation Policy, led by the Home Office, addresses the provision and management of housing for asylum seekers in the UK, including placement in hotels, bed-and-breakfast, and longer-term accommodation. Current policy challenges include value-for-money concerns, reliance on expensive nightly-paid accommodation, family suitability standards, and coordination with local authorities. The policy is actively under review with recommendations for reform.

It is extremely disappointing that the Home Office only appears to have started the process for recouping excess profits from accommodation providers in 2024. Accommodation providers told us they had tens of millions waiting to be returned to the Home Office.
