This policy statement sets out significant reforms to the UK’s asylum and returns policy.
Asylum Accommodation Policy, led by the Home Office, addresses the provision and management of housing for asylum seekers in the UK, including placement in hotels, bed-and-breakfast, and longer-term accommodation. Current policy challenges include value-for-money concerns, reliance on expensive nightly-paid accommodation, family suitability standards, and coordination with local authorities. The policy is actively under review with recommendations for reform.
