The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management are conducting a regulatory review of the nuclear sector, including proposed amendments to the Nuclear Safeguards (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 and associated fees regulations. The review responds to the government's 'Building our nuclear nation' agenda and addresses post-Brexit nuclear safeguards, licensing, and regulatory fees. This is an active review with government response published in 2025.

In response to: Prime Minister's strategic steer to the nuclear sector
Following the Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce review, the Prime Minister issued a strategic steer calling for system-wide reset to accelerate safe and efficient delivery through proportionate regulation and stronger collaboration.
