Menopause and the Workplace Policy

The Department for Work and Pensions is developing policy to address menopause and reproductive health in the workplace, including statutory protections for women experiencing menopause symptoms and pregnancy loss. The issue encompasses employer obligations to provide workplace support, paid bereavement leave for miscarriage and pre-24-week pregnancy loss, and amendments to the Employment Rights Bill to clarify that supporting reproductive health conditions constitutes advancing gender equality. Current provision is inconsistent across employers and inadequate statutory protections exist.
