Locally-Led Development Corporations

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities is establishing locally-led Development Corporations to deliver major housing and growth projects, with Greater Cambridge as an initial focus. These corporations will have land assembly powers and comprehensive planning authority similar to 20th-century new towns, though funding mechanisms and the broader New Towns programme remain under development. The model aims to accelerate housing delivery and support levelling-up objectives.
