Highly Protected Marine Areas

The Highly Protected Marine Areas (HPMA) initiative, led by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, seeks to establish marine protected areas with comprehensive conservation measures including restrictions on bottom trawling to protect marine ecosystems.
