Geological Disposal Facility Siting
Radioactive Waste Management, through Nuclear Waste Services, is leading the long-term Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) siting programme to permanently store nuclear waste including material from Sellafield. The project remains in early stages, requiring borehole drilling, preliminary design development, and public support testing with local communities in potential sites in Cumbria and Lincolnshire, with waste placement not expected until the 2050s.
