Enterprise Act Newspaper Mergers Foreign Powers

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport is updating the Enterprise Act 2002 merger regulations to address foreign state influence in newspaper mergers and acquisitions. New regulations are being introduced to strengthen scrutiny of newspaper enterprise mergers involving foreign powers and protect media plurality and editorial independence. The regulations are currently in draft form with implementation underway.
