Community Water Fluoridation Expansion

The Department of Health and Social Care is expanding community water fluoridation programmes, initially focusing on the north east of England, to improve dental health outcomes in target populations. The policy involves adding fluoride to public water supplies and requires consultation with affected communities and stakeholders under the Water Fluoridation (Consultation) Regulations 2022. Feasibility studies and equalities impact assessments have been completed to support implementation.
