Building Safety Act Implementation
The Building Safety Act implementation is being overseen by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and the Home Office, establishing a new regulatory regime for high-risk buildings and building works through the Responsible Actors Scheme and related prohibitions. The programme is actively developing secondary legislation (Amendment Regulations 2026) and guidance on fire safety (Approved Document B review) and plan approval requirements for new builds and fire safety order buildings. The Domestic Building Works (Consumer Protection) Bill is also progressing to strengthen consumer protections in the building sector.
