The government has introduced the Victims and Courts Bill to Parliament today (7 May 2025).
The Ministry of Justice and Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority are reviewing the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme (CICS) following 2022–2023 consultations, with a government response published and a dedicated Bill introduced. The review addresses compensation levels, eligibility, and support for victims of violent crime and historic safeguarding failures.
