Tuition fees and student support: 2026 to 2027 academic year

Changes to undergraduate tuition fees in 2026 to 2027 academic year and 2027 to 2028 academic year, and student support arrangements for undergraduate and postgraduate students in 2026 to 2027 academic year.

Information about changes the government intends to make to:

  • undergraduate tuition fees
  • undergraduate loans and grants for support with living and other costs 
  • postgraduate loans and grants for support with living and other costs 

These changes apply to the Higher Education student finance system for:

  • new students beginning courses from the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year
  • continuing students already in the student finance system

From January 2027, the lifelong learning entitlement (LLE) will apply. For further information, refer to Lifelong learning entitlement: what it is and how it will work. The maximum rates as set out within this document will also apply under the LLE.

The government intends to lay regulations implementing these changes in early 2026. These regulations will be subject to Parliamentary procedure.
