Statement

On 19 March, I confirmed to Parliament that, on the basis of assessments by the Competition and Markets Authority and by Ofcom, I am minded to refer the anticipated acquisition of Telegraph Media Group Ltd (TMG) by RB Investco Ltd to a Phase 2 investigation on the grounds of the need for accurate presentation of news and free expression of opinion in newspapers.
I set a deadline of 9am on Monday 25 March 2024 to allow the parties the opportunity to make representations to me before I reach a final decision.
Further to a request from one of the Parties, I have confirmed an extension to that deadline, which will now be 9am on Tuesday 2 April 2024.
