Research into public perceptions of self-driving vehicles (SDVs). The research is presented across 2 reports. The aims of the research were to understand:
- how to communicate safety information about SDVs effectively
- how different types of exposure to SDVs can influence awareness and understanding
- the role citizens see for SDVs in a future transport system
The research used electroencephalography (EEG) to provide real-time insights into people’s experience of SDVs. The EEG study document provides more detail on that.
Results from this research will be used to inform future policy for:
- connected and automated vehicle safety
- creation of a connected and automated mobility adoption strategy
- the future of transport programme
