Statutory taxi and private hire vehicle standards
Taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) licensing authorities must use their licensing powers to protect children and vulnerable adults.
Following consultation with trade, regulators and safety campaign groups, the government has issued these statutory taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) standards to licensing authorities, outlining how they should carry out their licensing function.
While the focus of these standards is on protecting children and vulnerable adults, all passengers will benefit from the recommendations, which aim to better regulate the taxi and PHV sector.
These standards are available in English and Welsh.
