UK steel strategy

The steel strategy will set our long-term vision for a revitalised and sustainable industry, with greater steel-making capabilities, and enable a competitive business landscape so we can have a bright future for steel here in the UK. The government has taken a series of steps to support the industry and will publish the full strategy later in the year.

The government stands by its manifesto commitment to spend up to £2.5 billion to rebuild the UK steel sector. This is being delivered in part though the National Wealth Fund. The National Wealth Fund is operationally independent, and financing is already accessible to projects that meet the investment principles.
