The Environment Agency proposes to revise the existing standard rules for flood risk activities and create 3 new ones. This is the first review of the existing standard rules since April 2016 when we created them.

The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 allow us to offer standard rules for specific activities. They make applying for and determining permit applications more straight forward. We aim to increase the use of standard rules and maintain our commitment to protect the environment and manage flood risk.

We welcome your feedback on the proposed changes to existing and new standard rules. We will use your feedback to develop them. We aim to publish the new and revised standard rules in March 2019.
