In 2018 the 25 Year Environment Plan (25YEP) set out our goals for improving the environment, within a generation, and leaving it in a better state than we found it. It details how government will work with communities and businesses to do this.

The Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP) 2023 for England is our first revision of the 25 Year Environment Plan. It builds on the 25YEP vision to set out how we will deliver each of our environmental goals.

We published the fourth annual progress report in July 2022.
